About Us

In educating the 'whole' child - academic, physical and emotional - we meet the needs of all our learners i.e. every child is given the opportunity to excel in whatever field he/she is best equipped. We are able to offer the privilege of group teaching, thus ensuring that the learners receive individual attention and are encouraged to work hard in order to gain a solid foundation.

A high academic standard has always been maintained. The children are encouraged to use their initiative, to enjoy problem solving and above all to use their thinking processes effectively. We are fortunate to have a fully qualified Remedial Teacher to assist our learners .We also have the services in a private capacity of an Occupational Therapist,Speech Therapist and a Clinical Psychologist.

We are extremely fortunate to have excellent, carefully chosen and dedicated staff, who keep abreast of all the most recent trends in education. A caring atmosphere prevails in order to nurture and support at all times, thus building self esteem and confidence.

Our Information and Technology Centre was officially opened on 9 June 1999. This facility will ensure that all our learners learn how to access information and to use this information effectively. The combination of books/media and technology/computers enriches their learning and foster both logical thinking and creativity. It adds an invaluable dimension to our school and our learners’ future.

Music forms a very important part of the school curriculum. We employ a music specialist and the children participate in school concerts and other presentations . Our children are also able to use a range of instruments.

We have a Speech & Drama Specialist who teaches all our learners, developing spoken language skills and confidence.

Each year a wide variety of functions are held at our school in order to involve our learners and their families. These may include an  annual school sports day, swimming gala, fun walk, speech and drama festival and soccer/ netball and hockey tournaments. Parents are also invited to attend open afternoons to view children's books.

Parents are represented by the Governing Body and regular meetings are held to ensure that the best interests of our school are served. Our parent community has always been willing and extremely helpful, thus contributing to the effective running of our school. All parents have their own particular expertise - their support and interest are always greatly appreciated. We, at Berea West Preparatory School, strive to create a happy, secure atmosphere for our learners, conducive to the educational needs of your child.
